Completed in 2018 under the leadership of PCL, the West Block Parliament restoration required unparalleled expertise to meet the exacting standards of a client who was understandably committed to maintaining historical and architectural integrity. From limestone and marble to hardwood and terrazzo, every material was carefully selected and skillfully integrated to preserve the authenticity of this symbol of our nation.

Craftsmanship at its finest

Attention to detail was the watchword for this project. Every element—from the refined marble to rare hardwoods and detailed terrazzo—was installed with absolute precision to ensure harmony and continuity. Even the green carpet in the temporary House of Commons, a nod to British heritage, was custom-crafted to honour its historical significance.

Our team had to work with exceptional exactness, following strict technical guidelines to ensure that every element—from the elegant marble to the understated linoleum— contributed to the visual harmony and continuity of the space.

Gathering a team of master artisans

One of the project’s standout challenges was the installation of anchored stone, a first for the Bousada team. This intricate method required a watchmaker’s precision to securely fix each stone element while maintaining its elegant, natural appearance, perfectly aligned with the heritage aesthetic of the building.

The West Block project was about much more than just installing flooring—it was a true test of expertise. Even before submitting a bid, our teams had to showcase a wide range of skills, meeting the exceptional standards required for this treasured national landmark.
