Highlights: Full flooring installation, the introduction of ArmorCove coving solution to the Canadian market, navigating complex urban construction logistics
With a $3.4M budget, the CAMH project in Toronto was designed to reshape mental health care spaces, creating a welcoming and functional 500,000 sq. ft. facility. Bousada played a key role by installing ArmorCove, a specialized baseboard product engineered for medical environments, making its Canadian debut on this project.
ArmorCove is an innovative material with a rigid metal backing that leaves zero room for flexibility during installation. This required meticulous preparation to ensure perfectly smooth surfaces. Adding to the challenge, slight variations (millimetres) in the product, due to its novelty, made adjustments even more complex.
Always striving to be part of the solution
This construction project wasn’t without its hurdles. An eight-week strike from another trade on-site caused significant delays with no extension to the overall schedule. The Bousada team’s adaptability and commitment were crucial to delivering the project on time.
Urban construction is never straightforward, and building in downtown Toronto always amps up the complexity. Snarled traffic, disrupted deliveries, non-existent parking and limited site access all added to the challenge. Despite these logistical hurdles, our team delivered flawlessly, demonstrating, once again, our ability to adapt to complex situations and overcome the unexpected as a trusted project partner.
