The internationally acclaimed Pierre Lassonde Pavilion, a $63.2M project designed by Provencher-Roy and OMA*AMO Architecture, showcases a striking blend of contemporary design and noble materials. Built by construction firm EBC, this award-winning museum extension highlights innovation at every turn. Bousada played a pivotal role in bringing this vision to life, installing key elements, including the signature staircases, limestone flooring for the pavilion’s expansive open areas and ceramic finishes in service areas like the restaurant’s kitchen.
Among the project’s highlights were two custom aluminum staircases, including a breathtaking curved centrepiece. Each unique step, with its intricate curves, was custom-crafted and measured to millimetre precision. Adding to the challenge was the integration of LED lighting into the steps, requiring meticulous collaboration across trades.
Expertise and experience in action
Chosen for its timeless beauty, limestone added sophistication to the pavilion’s interiors. But the stones’s porous nature make it unforgiving to work with, and each tile had to be sealed and installed with an expert’s touch, showcasing Bousada’s deep knowledge in managing delicate materials and delivering flawless finishes. Whether tackling the technical complexities of custom aluminum steps or the meticulous installation of limestone, Bousada met every challenge with skill and precision, respecting the architectural vision of this iconic pavilion.
